BRAND STORY
THE SYCAMORE AT CHATHAM MILLS

In 2020, during a time of uncertainty and reinvention, I began working with Greg and Maria Lewis to bring a vision to life—one that would become The Sycamore at Chatham Mills.

Set within a restored textile mill in the heart of Pittsboro, the restaurant was conceived as more than a place to dine. It was meant to be an experience—where history, atmosphere, and elevated cuisine come together seamlessly. The setting itself, rich with character and heritage, called for a brand that felt both grounded and refined.

The process began with the logo—an essential foundation that needed to do more than identify the restaurant. It had to communicate professionalism, warmth, and a strong sense of place. At the heart of the mark is a sycamore tree—not a generic symbol, but a direct reference to the actual tree that stands on the property. This detail anchors the brand in authenticity, connecting the identity to the land, the history, and the experience itself.

Designed to be clean, timeless, and highly marketable, the logo reflects the balance Greg and Maria envisioned: sophisticated yet approachable. From there, the work expanded beyond identity. I collaborated with the restaurant to create photography that highlights the depth, texture, and artistry of the food—capturing not just dishes, but the experience of dining at The Sycamore. Alongside this, I developed marketing and promotional materials that carried the brand consistently across every touchpoint.

Every element was shaped to reflect the same philosophy: thoughtful, elevated, and intentional. The result is a cohesive brand that mirrors the restaurant itself—rooted in history, yet distinctly modern.

Today, The Sycamore at Chatham Mills stands as a destination in the Triangle, known for its refined atmosphere, exceptional cuisine, and attention to detail. And at its core, it remains what it was always meant to be—an invitation to gather, connect, and experience something truly special.
